Dr. Garlock has been providing Critical Incident Stress
Management (CISM) services since 1990. He has provided these
services in over 350 critical incidents in the greater Houston
metropolitan area. He has provided CISD services in traumatic
and critical incidents including bank robberies, store robberies,
employee deaths, deaths of employee family members, accident
related deaths, plant explosion and fires and car and motorcycle
accidents. He is pleased to offer these state of the art
services to managed care companies, employee assistance
programs and to municipal government entities when the services
are requested.
He is trained in the Mitchell Model
of Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) and Management
services. The Mitchell Model is a model of service delivery
in critical incidents that provides individuals the opportunity
to process traumatic events through a structured process
that ameliorates the impact of the stressors leading to
a normal reaction and adjustment to the stressors. CISM
services include a variety of structured approaches that
allow involved individuals to experience and process the
critical events in a safe and research proven way that prevents
the internalization of the events. By participating in a
CISD, an individual can most avoid the development of Post
Traumatic Stress Disorder and related problems like depression
and anxiety. These CISM services are provided on site or
near the site of the traumatic event. Recent traumatic events
that involved employees who received CISM services include
9/11, the Houston floods and the Oklahoma City bombing,
to name a few. The recovery of these population centers
and the affected individuals who were involved in these
catastrophic events was positively impacted by the application
of CISM services around the time that these events occurred.
If you or your loved ones or your
company or employees have experienced a critical incident,
contact Dr. Garlock to arrange for CISM services for those
affected by the critical incident. He is pleased to offer
his services to managed care companies and to employee assistance
programs whenever the services are needed. Anyone needing
these services can contact Dr. Garlock in order to request
and arrange for these services to be provided.
Dr. Garlock has completed the Basic
Course in Critical Incident Stress Management during the
1990’s and has just completed the Advanced Course
in Critical Incident Stress Management. Both of these training
programs were provided through the International Critical
Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) which sponsored both
of these training events. He is a member of the International
Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
Given Dr. Garlock’s level of
CISM training and his wide range of experience, he offers
a proven service that works to assist employees and their
families and individuals to get through even the most traumatic
of events.
