We all get the "blues" at times, no matter who we are, how much money we have, how successful we are or how much we are loved. The "blues" are the normal dips in our mood that can come at any time. Among the factors contributing to these "blues" are not eating properly or regularly, ingesting too much processed sugar, caffeine or carbohydrates, changes in the season and sunlight, changes in our exercise routine, changes in our work hours, increased stress and unexpected losses and changes in our relationships. We are able to manage these without great concern and they often "fix" themselves over time.

Depression, on the other hand, is an illness and has a biological basis in the body which is well founded and documented. Most often, therapy and medication are used to treat depression most effectively. There are a variety of treatment approaches and medications which effectively reduce depression and lead to the resumption of normal lives and happiness.
