Develop and implement private practice in North Houston, The Woodlands, and Kingwood, Texas. Provide outClient evaluation and therapy services to all age groups. Provide marital and family and individual therapy services to individuals, couples and families. Provide brief solution oriented therapy services for managed care companies and EAP firms. Provide contract EAP services to FAA on a part-time basis. Serve as an on-site CISD provider for various managed care and EAP programs Provide training and educational services.

 

January 1997 to August 1998

Clinical Director

Better Life Program, Carol Smith Center, Houston Texas

Served as Clinical Director for a community mental health center on a part-time basis. Provided direct individual, group and family therapy services to chronically mentally ill adults and geriatric adults. Provided development and implementation of clinical services program. Directed all clinical staffings, meetings and supervision activities in the center. Left due to selling my ownership of the Corporation to permit me to pursue my private practice opportunities full time.

Developed and implemented group information sessions for interested students, parents and university staff. Left to go to graduate school.

School Psychologist/Counseling Intern

Hunt County Opportunity Center, Vector Workshop, Greenville, Texas

Responsible for completing comprehensive intellectual and vocational assessments of adolescent workshops clients for public school system. Designed 30 to 90 day comprehensive staff based vocational evaluation system. Set up weekly staff meeting to develop approach to providing rehabilitation services. Co-therapist in two therapy groups with mentally retarded adults. Prescripted individual behavioral plans for selected workshop clients. This activity was on half time basis as part of the graduate training program. Left to complete internship.

Coordinator of Work Study Program and Staff Counselor

Served as staff counselor and coordinator of Work Study and Student Employment Program employing over 350 students. Administered program according to federal program guidelines and EEO regulations. Performed needs analysis and counseled students on all areas of federal financial aid programs and packaged financial aid for students. Responsible for placement of students in federally funded campus employment program serving as liaison between departmental and community employers and the Financial Aid Office. Provided group information programs. Left to complete graduate training program.

 

September 1975 to June 1976

BioFeedBack Research and Autogenic Therapist (Intern)

Biofeedback Laboratory, East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas

Completed autogenic therapy sessions with walk-in and referral clients. Client conditions treated included hypertensives and migraine headache conditions primarily. Assisted in on-going research projects through the Psychology and Guidance departments. Completed research treating psychosomatic cardiovascular disorders. This activity was on half-time basis as part of the graduate training program. Left due to completing practicum.

Assistant Social and Rehabilitation Director (Intern)

Oaks Manor Nursing Home, Commerce, Texas

Responsible for planning, implementing and teaching basic reality orientation individual and group program for selected residents. Assisted nursing home staff with weekly Clients staffing and assisted Rehabilitation Director with in-service training sessions designed to improve Client staff relations and increase staff interaction and effectiveness. Topics included reality orientation, attitude therapy, and basic communication skills. This activity was on a half time basis as part of graduate training program.

Administered standardized psychometric instruments as a member of a diagnostic team. Utilized diagnostic interview procedures with the assessments. Responsible for completing interviews and reports on applicants to new state school for the mentally retarded. Compiled reports from diagnostic interviews based upon service categories of the Developmental Disabilities Act to determine character and service needs of population to the new state school. Left to complete undergraduate degree.

Responsible for computing and disbursing $50,000 weekly payroll to 300 employees. Completed cost accounting procedures and assisted in purchasing activities on material and labor on three jobs. Handled personnel work for three projects, including pre-employment interview, placement, and record keeping duties. Acted as office manager after transfer to general manger. Left to attend college.

 

January 1966 to January 1972

Non-Commissioned Officer

United States Army Reserve

Clerical duties included payroll, lesson plan preparation and instruction module formation for training purposes. Served as chemical-biological-radiological non-commissioned officer with 125 man unit. Completed six years with honorable discharge.

Assistant Office Manager

Lilly Paper Company, Augusta, Georgia

Responsible for daily supervision of clerical staff involved in accounts receivable and invoicing department. Ordered all office supplies and was responsible for the maintenance of office reproduction equipment. Supervised mailroom staff. Left for better position.
